Rest of the Country Week 10 Review

There were a few big games outside of the major conferences, with both  of the non-BCS schools keeping their undefeated seasons alive, and one school fighting for their live against Navy.

Notre Dame came into the week ranked 24th and looking to get another blowout win against one of the service academies. They might have gotten the win, but they were unable to do it in dominant fashion, winning 38-34 after a Navy reverse run was stopped short on 4th down late in the game. Notre Dame controls their own destiny, as they are now 7-2 and if they can beat Pittsburgh, BYU, and Stanford and finish 10-2, a BCS bowl is still very much possible for the Irish.

Northern Illinois came out and just dominated Umass, winning 63-19. Jordan Lynch was able to rush for four touchdowns and throw for another, leading the team to a 9-0 start. they now have the remainder of their schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, against Ball State, Toledo, and Western Michigan. Ball State could be a real challenge in their next game, as the Cardinals are currently standing at 8-1 (5-0) and are tied with Northern Illinois for first place in the MAC.

The other unbeaten team, Fresno State also looked impressive, as the Bulldogs were able to hold on to beat Nevada 41-23. Quarterback Derek Carr was able to provide a spark for the team, as he threw for 487 yards and 3 TDs. Fresno State should also have an easy time getting to the conference championship game, as their remaining games are against Wyoming, New Mexico, and San Jose State.

Going back to the MAC, Boise State was able to get a much needed win over Colorado State, 42-30. The Broncos are now 6-3 (4-1), and still have Wyoming, San Diego State, and New Mexico coming up.

Another game to note was the game involving the other two service academies, where Air force was able to end its seven game losing streak dating back to the beginning of the year, by beating Army 42-28. Army had been horrible these last couple of weeks.
