ACC Week 11 Review

The ACC race was blown wide open this week, creating an exciting month of November.

Miami had established themselves as the favorite to win the ACC Coastal, but this week they lost to a Virginia Tech team that had lost 2 games in a row. They are now tied with that team, along with Georgia Tech, Miami, and Duke for first place in the Coastal. Virginia Tech just dominated the game, winning 42-24. Miami still has a good chance at winning the ACC.

Duke beat NC State this week, winning 38-20. They were pushed into my top 25, and are tied for first place in their division. No this isn't basketball. They are finally winning football games, and turning into an ACC power. NC State still hasn't won a conference game, and they are running out of time, as they only have two conference games left, against Boston College and Maryland.

Florida State continued its ACC dominance this week, beating Wake Forest 59-3. They forced 7 Wake Forest turnovers, 6 of which coming off interceptions. With the Oregon loss, the Seminoles are the favorite to make the championship game and have a fairly easy road to get there.

Syracuse beat Maryland 20-3 this week, showing that the injury problems have really ruined their season offensively. Syracuse is now just one win away from being bowl eligible, and they have a winning record at 5-4 (3-2). Maryland is also 5-4, but their problems are all in conference play, as they are just 1-4 in ACC play.

Pittsburgh was able to pull a huge upset win over Notre Dame this week. It won't help them in the ACC race, but it does hurt Notre Dames chances at making a BCS game. Pittsburgh still has a good chance at making a bowl game as that was their 5th win. They now need just one win in three games against North Carolina, Syracuse, and Miami.
